Law Assignment Help

Legal writing rewards structure and authority. Assignment Byte helps law students build tight arguments — applying the IRAC method to problem questions and supporting essays with the right cases and statutes.

From case briefs to jurisprudence essays, we deliver clear reasoning with accurate OSCOLA, APA or Harvard referencing. History, philosophy and literature work has its own page: humanities assignment help.

What we help with

Two reports, issued with every delivery

Every assignment ships with a similarity report and an AI-writing indicator read, so you can see exactly what a marker would see before you submit — not after.

Assignment Byte is an independent academic support service, not Turnitin, iThenticate or any university's own integrity office, and we do not control how a receiving institution reads either report. Read more on how similarity checks work, what an AI-writing indicator actually measures, and your institution's academic integrity policy before you submit anything.

Problem questions and the discipline of IRAC

Problem questions are marked on structured legal reasoning, and the structure is usually IRAC or a close variant. The issue must be framed narrowly enough to be answerable, the rule stated with authority, the application tied to the specific facts given, and the conclusion reached even where the law is genuinely unsettled. Refusing to conclude is itself a loss of marks.

The application stage is where most answers thin out. Restating the rule and then asserting the outcome skips the reasoning being assessed. Use the facts the examiner planted — an unusual date, a specific sum, a particular relationship between parties — because they were placed there to trigger a rule.

Where the facts are ambiguous, argue both readings and say which is stronger. Examiners write ambiguity in deliberately, and handling it explicitly is a first-class move rather than a hedge.

Authority, hierarchy and citation

Not all authority carries equal weight, and rubrics reward students who show they know the difference. A Supreme Court decision binds where a first-instance judgment persuades; an obiter remark is not a ratio; an overruled case is not authority at all. Stating the court and the year does that work in a few words.

OSCOLA is the dominant style in UK law schools and is marked strictly — footnotes rather than in-text citation, specific pinpoint references, and correct case name italicisation. Points are routinely lost here for reasons unrelated to legal knowledge.

Statutory interpretation questions need the section quoted accurately and the interpretive approach named. Literal, golden, mischief and purposive approaches reach different results, and the examiner wants to see which you chose and why.

Essays, critique and staying on the question

Law essays ask you to evaluate a proposition, not to survey an area. An essay that describes the development of a doctrine over ten pages and then agrees with the quote in the final paragraph has answered a question that was not asked. Take a position in the introduction and defend it throughout.

Academic commentary matters here in a way it does not in problem questions. Engaging with named scholars, and disagreeing with one where you can support it, is what moves an essay into the upper bands.

We write to your jurisdiction and your school's style guide, and every draft arrives with a Turnitin originality report.
